The Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) is an outstanding week long leadership development opportunity specifically designed for high school students with disabilities. The Forums goals are to educate students with disabilities about the principles of leadership, build their self-confidence and advocacy skills, and better prepare them for future career choices The YLF Delegates are selected through a competitive application and interview process. As participants in the YLF, Delegates experience a positive, creative and highly energized environment to build self-confidence and leadership skills, learn how to become more involved in their schools and communities, and receive guidance in setting and pursuing their own career and higher education goals.

In the summer of 2009, Chicago Youth Boxing Club--a nonprofit sports-based youth development organization in Chicago--took five youth and two staff to Tamaula, Guanajuato for two weeks. CYBC youth organized boxing programming, leadership development workshops, and fitness/nutrition education sessions for community residents in Tamaula. The CYBC youth also built a small boxing gym that continues to operate in the community. The purpose of the trip was to foster leadership development and to build intercultural understanding around migration issues between Mexico and the United States. This educational exchange was funded by the Chicago International Connections Fund of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

We believe that this goal can be achieved in providing students with academic guidelines, interactive training and exchanges with business leaders and policy makers. AAYLP participants are prepared with the practical training to be effective leaders in their communities. http Each year the Research and Policy Institute of California hosts the African American Youth Leadership Program. The annual conference invites high school juniors and seniors from throughout the state to participate in a week-long conference in Sacramento. During the week, participants are exposed to training in leadership and personal development and are shown the tools of success in education, business, and government. Conference participants get hands-on experience, such as developing academic and career plans, running political campaigns and participating in the legislative process. This training culminates to a mock presentation and debate of proposed bills in California's Assembly Chambers. Upon successful completion of AAYLP students are granted admission into the Society of Leaders (SOL). The Philippine Youth Leadership Program, funded by the US Department of State, sends groups of students from Mindanao to the US for one-month stays. In the US, the participants take part in an intensive four-week training institute on inter-ethnic dialogue and conflict resolution. The participants also learn about American civic society, diversity, and traditions of volunteerism. The young people who are selected to participate in the program are third-year high school and first-year college students, aged 15-18. The adults are community activists, aged 40 or under. YLPP is administered by Northern Illinois University (Dekalb, Illinois) in partnership with Capitol University of Cagayan de Oro City, and the Philippine International Visitor Alumni Association (IVP-Phils).
